Each style of Ordnance Survey map you see in Digimap for Schools is updated at a different point during the year. Some of the maps are updated twice a year in Digimap for Schools. Others are updated more or less frequently. The oldest aerial photography will be updated as Getmapping fly parts of the country and capture up-to-date photography. Global map coverage is updated at least biannually. The historical mapping doesn’t change!
Digimap for Schools is designed to work with the latest version of the most popular web browsers on tablets, laptops and desktop computers. Please ensure you are using an up to date version of Edge, Chrome, FireFox or Safari. Digimap for Schools is also designed to work in Safari on iPads, on the latest iOS. Please note, the service has not been tested on all iPad Minis or Android devices. Digimap for Schools has also not been designed for very small screens such as mobile phones. While the functionality may work, the available screen area does not offer sufficient useful space. We do not advise using Digimap for Schools on a mobile phone.
Yes, absolutely. Digimap for Schools is a great resource for students undertaking their D of E award. The measurement and drawing tools allow students to plot routes on up to date maps, centred on their location of interest.
You can easily customise maps in Digimap for Schools using the platform's drawing tools. These tools allow you to add markers, text, and shapes to highlight specific locations or areas of interest. In addition to drawing tools, you can adjust overlays and layers to add more information to your maps. These include options like showing historical features, geological data, or land use patterns, which can be useful for different subjects and learning activities.
